I like the idea of one large hole in the bed instead of four or five anyway :D
Thanks!

Really on an aluminum bed? That should be an interesting test. I will call GM and see if you want to do that one.
OH BTW, all RAMs come with the puch mounts on the frame even if the option was not included. I installed my myself. Like the Ford the bed bolts did not come out easy. Chris
GM would use a plastic hitch on their test. :D
I would run the companion on an Aluminum bed Super Duty and not even think about it. The weight is transferred through the bed to the hat channels to the frame. Shouldn't be much deflection/Dents with the B&W with the bed corrugation filler strips they use now.
Thanks!
Jeremiah - steve-n-vickiExplorerask them for this, it is supposed to fit 2017 super duty
Hitch Prep Package - 5th Wheel / Gooseneck, Includes Inner and Outer Level Frame Brackets
Part No: HC3Z-5F057-B
OR
Hitch Prep Package - 5th Wheel / Gooseneck, Includes Outer Level Frame Brackets
Part No: HC3Z-5F057-A
I suspect the A one is the one that fits the boxed frame and the b is for the non fully boxed frame - Me_AgainExplorer III

that is correct info, on the current 2017 super duty you CAN NOT order the factory 5th prep on the 2wd. Its in the order guide.
I will not buy one until they change this :)
Sheesh, that's kind of a bad deal. It's unfortunate Ford is making this such a hard deal and limiting it to 4WD trucks only.
I bought my Ram used and was able to buy the 5th wheel prep package and install it myself pretty easily. RAM even provided instructions for doing a non-factory install. I priced out the B&W option but came out several $$hundred$$ cheaper buying the OEM puck system and Curt 5th wheel hitch. - jerem0621Explorer III'd go the B&W route myself. That's odd, I wonder why that is? I've met several people over the years that specifically buy a 2wd because its cheaper, better fuel mileage, lower bed height, etc.
I wouldn't think there is any fundamental frame or rear suspension differences between the 2wd and 4wd. I really dislike when manufacturers mandate certain things in order to get certain options. Ford with the 5th wheel mounting, Chevy won't let you get the big gas engine in the lower trim half tons, etc. Let me buy what I want...
I think there is a difference somewhere between the 2wd and 4x4 because, as I posted earlier, the 4wd takes a different B&W hitch part number for the 2wd and the - Hey buc.... post a picture of that new jewel.
I have zero experience or exposure to the '17 Super Duty's but I would start by contacting your salesman and see if they can order the 5th wheel package and install at the dealer. - spoon059Explorer II

They also change the software in the sway control for towing.
