When you bet "Ford" is not aware that it's an issue; who is "Ford"?
Whoever wrote the cruise control software must know that the brakes come on to hold the speed set point. Maybe on a long grade the brakes will release and the cruise will kick off rather than having the brakes maintain the speed till the brake fluid boils and the rotors warp.
Suspect that the Adaptive Cruise is an off-the-shelf product that they slapped on without considering the downhill trailer towing implications. This can't be a deliberate design choice (I hope!). And since the AC is only an option on the highest trim levels, I doubt that many people have encountered and reported this issue.
But no idea how to go about getting the info up to the person at Ford who can do something about it.
