Adaptive cruise is available on the Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited trim levels.
Since AC is designed to stay a distance you set from the vehicle in front of you, how else would it slow the vehicle if not the brakes? If you have the exhaust brake on, it works with it. Since it is designed to slow the vehicle immediately when it detects you are to close, the exhaust brake will not slow it that fast, it has to brake. If you don't have the exhaust brake on, what else can it use but the brakes to slow you.
I agree about using the brakes with AC.
But the problem is that even when he turned off the "adaptive" function, the remaining, normal CC still used the brakes. It would be preferable if instead it just used the transmission and EB as the normal, non-adaptive CC works.
Or when a trailer is detected, normal CC with no brake action should be the default.
It's a bug, IMHO, that Ford should fix.
