Not brand bashing this time as much as disrespectful of folks that don't drive your brand. Then again' it may just be Ford owners you have a real dislike for. Otherwise how would you know it was you I referred too?:BBird Freak wrote:

If referring to me, where am I bashing?
There was only two of us that don't show Ford in their siggy on the first page.
I don't see where I was disrespectful one bit. If you think I was disrespectful in any way then it's not me that needs to grow up. I just said that it's going to be fun to watch the Blue bleeders post how much 65 lbft is going to improve the towing.
That's the problem with this country right now. Everyone reading into things too much. All the brand trucks are good trucks. I drive what I have because that's what I like. You drive what you have because of your reasons. Nothing more and nothing less. People always wearing their feelings on their shoulders to be easily knocked off is crazy. Not one time did I say anything about the brand I choose to drive.:S - Bionic_ManExplorer

Reality is, 400/800 is plenty of power to tow anything that can fit on 3/4 and 1 ton platforms. We are limited by the axles, tires, etc. Marketing is the reason they keep upping the numbers (they are primarily selling to men lol).
I wish they would keep the power and torque the same but work on mileage and a better driving product. For example, amateur tuners are getting better mileage and have the truck driver better than engineers at huge car companies by a simple ECM tune.
There is very little "need" for even the 400/800 level of power. It is a matter of want. And usually in a capitalist market, the manufactures try to fulfill the want of the consumer. So, I would venture to say, that there is a considerable want for more power. Just look at the chest pumping in any thread that has to do with HP/TQ, or towing times up "Ike". This thread is a good example.
And I would say that there has been significant improvement in MPG in the newest trucks. I don't think that DEF is the absolute best solution, but since its introduction, both power and MPG has gone up. Reported MPG of today's trucks is every bit as good if not better than the pre-emissions trucks, with twice the power. Seems like a win-win to me. - Me_AgainExplorer III

And these trucks are still emissions complaint? Chris - Bird_FreakExplorer II

Towing just got easier
Fish, towing should already be easy for you, the TT at 11,000# GVWR, would hardly make my 2001 Ram break a sweat (going uphill)!
What will be entertaining in the next couple years is who with be the first to claim 500/1,000!!!
No, what's going to be entertaining is all these blue bleeders getting new trucks that think everything is about HP are going to be going WOW when they gain 65 lbft of torque and no more HP and can't believe how much better the new truck handles the weight. If Ford puts the extra torque in the right place it will feel like a 100 more HP. :B
Assuming the 65 lb ft of additional torque above the 2016 Powerstroke is at 1600 rpm, it will produce 20 more HP at 1600 rpm and as the engine revs the advantage will become less apparent.
I know how much more hp it brings but I can tell you from experience of going from 850-900 with no hp bump it is great. When you look at it in the lower gears while accelerating it gives more torque to get it moving. - Sport45Explorer IIThreads like this one often devolve into a lot of chatter between pots and kettles. But that's alright with me. It adds a certain entertainment value.

You referring to Troy, the chief of brand bashers?
If you go back and look at the 1st page you'll see Troy is actually innocent this time. ;) - Me_AgainExplorer III
