I don't know if anybody else here got this mail yet from Ram.It is for a recall for a possible fire in the engine compartment because of a water pump problem. I have no dog in this hunt but here is the actual recall notice.

My 2016 year is under the recall that says, "the water pump could leak fluid and cause a fire", (the fire part is unlikely IMO but the leaking part could be bad). Just have to wait for my recall in the mail!Recalled 2500's are 2013 and later. 3500's don't go back as far.

I'm sure the 3500's will be next. There is no difference between their engines.

The recall has been out for a bit now. There is a fix, but it takes a minute to get 1/2 million water pumps evidently! You can go to https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls/search.htmland sign up to be notified when parts are available.

Just got mine yesterday for 2015. I had the mechanic look at it 2 weeks ago during an oil change at the dealer and he said it wasn't the model being recalled. On the other hand a friend with the same truck in San Antonio already had the fire. Go figure.

My truck already puked its water pump but I do have the recall notice on my Ram app. Not sure if the water pump I have on the truck now is bad or not, it was just installed back in late July. Once the pumps are available I'll run it in and have it looked at.

All water pumps fail eventually anyway. I guess looking for a coolant leak under the truck (in the front) is too much to ask of an owner. Kind of like checking tire pressures or checking the oil.....

Huh ! All water pumps fail, wow !! have I been lucky after 55 years owning cars ,and trucks, not one water pump. Couple fuel pumps :)
