I am not sure I am a fan of how much the front looks like an Explorer. From the pictures on their website I don't care for the look of the second row seat and is that arm rest on the second row buckets really that wide? I wonder how much has changed and been improved.
I had a 2017 Expedition EL as a rental a couple of weeks ago. I put nearly 1000 miles on it over four days and wasn't impressed with much. It averaged just under 17mpg in that 1000 miles which was mainly highway. We did a road trip in November with a 2017 Suburban and averaged 20mpg over 2000 miles. That 20mpg average included a fair share of city driving as well...the Suburban was getting close to if not over 23mpg.
One of the things that really frustrated me with the Expedition was with the infotainment and HVAC controls. There was redundant HVAC controls below and in the infotainment for everything but the rear air. To control the rear air you had to access it through the Sync button?
The other thing I disliked with the infotainment was that with my iPhone I couldn't listen to Amazon Music and use a map app like Google Maps or Waze at the same time. If I wanted to see what music was playing on the trucks screen, I couldn't see the map on my phone. If I wanted to see the map on my phone, it would change the screen on the truck.
In contrast, I had a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee this weekend. When I picked it up from the rental place I plugged my phone in, started my music app and it displayed on the Jeeps screen. I then started my map app and was on my way. Not once did I have to toggle between an app.
