Did the GC have carplay? What you are describing is a quirk with carplay. I the FCA vehicles I drive with carplay they behave the same as the Ford. But if you connect as media or ipod that is not an issue

I am not sure I am a fan of how much the front looks like an Explorer. From the pictures on their website I don't care for the look of the second row seat and is that arm rest on the second row buckets really that wide? I wonder how much has changed and been improved.

I had a 2017 Expedition EL as a rental a couple of weeks ago. I put nearly 1000 miles on it over four days and wasn't impressed with much. It averaged just under 17mpg in that 1000 miles which was mainly highway. We did a road trip in November with a 2017 Suburban and averaged 20mpg over 2000 miles. That 20mpg average included a fair share of city driving as well...the Suburban was getting close to if not over 23mpg.

One of the things that really frustrated me with the Expedition was with the infotainment and HVAC controls. There was redundant HVAC controls below and in the infotainment for everything but the rear air. To control the rear air you had to access it through the Sync button?

Farmers and ranchers are a huge part of the premium truck business. Farms generate a lot of money, and it's just another expense. The difference between a capable truck/SUV and a capable and very luxurious vehicle is just a few hundred dollars a month.

Agreed... Farmers and Ranchers spend big bucks on trucks and SUV's. Even on used trucks. My wallet knows so well.

I looked at a 2018 Expedition Limited a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. The only thing I didn't like is the rotary transmission knob. Otherwise it's a very classy looking vehicle that will sell like hotcakes.

Almost all of those lights are "off road use only".

I have a 2011 Yukon Denali XL, that I have never been in love with. Good to have another viable option when the time to upgrade comes.

Guy down the road has the Lincoln version. The entire front end, grill, headlight bezels and everything else is injection molded plastic. I bet a light tap by even a bird would cost a thousand bucks to repair and I agree, it looks fugly.

Easily fixed. Our Suburban 2500. Previously lots of plastic.

Glad you like it, but that is certainly not for me. And, for most, the extra length on that bumper would likely be a deal breaker in getting it into the garage of a newer home.

Full size SUVs are crazy expensive. Unless a third row is necessary, I think a crew cab with a shell on the back is a far better value. They also open up the heavy duty options that are much better towing platforms.
