Really? Then explain how a 3/4 ton with the same "axle" and same wheels and tires as your truck only gets a 6000-6500lb "axle rating"
That seems like more than a "little bit more weight."
Except a 3/4 ton gets smaller rims and tires.
Before the industry went to 17's, 18's and 20's, standard equipment on a 3/4 ton was 245/75R16. A 1 ton SRW would come with 265/75R16, which had about 450lbs more capacity per tire.
