2019 Cummins in Ram: 2 significant & simultaneous milestones

2019 will mark the 30th anniversary since Cummins found its way under the hood of a previously slow selling Dodge Ram pickup truck, sparking, without any spark plugs, a trend that completely revolutionized the RV industry... leading to the proliferation of larger and heavier trailers and an entire new class called toy haulers, enabled in no small part by the increased capacity of the turbo diesel powered trucks used to haul them around.

1989 was the year this unrelenting trend began, which survived the '91 recession, the 2000 dot-bomb, 9/11/01, the 2005-8 fuel price spike, the 2008-11 mortgage backed global financial crisis, over a decade of war in the Middle East, and all the marketing storms spewing out of Dearborn.

Even more significantly, 2019 will also mark the 100th anniversary of Cummins as an engine company.

And, 2019 is the year that FCA is expected to introduce a revamped HD Ram.

I don't know about you, but I'm kind of curious how Cummins and FCA will leverage these notable milestones into the new 2019 product that descends from this two tier ancestral legacy.

Did you make this up on your own or was this a copy and paste from some cheesy column?

Great truck and great engine, no doubt. But this post looks like it was written by the Ram folks themselves.
  • Cummins engines stay great because they find what works and stick to it. If Cummins follows their tradition and reputation, the 2019 engines will likely remain largely the same as they are the previous years...
  • Hmm, 2019 is a pinnacle year for the Cummins Ram. When you reach a pinnacle, it's all downhill from there.... :W
  • I reported a bout 3 weeks ago that while attending a Cummins 6.7 plant tour in Columbus, IN that the lady told me she was working on the 2019 6.7 for the RAM. At first she just said she was working on an engine then I pressed her and she said it would indeed be the 6.7. After that no matter how I asked a question she just smiled at me.

I will no doubt be buying a 2019 RAM/Cummins. To have the 100 year anniversary Cummins in a RAM with a 30 year Cummins/RAM history would be AWESOME!

    Tic Toc Tic Toc
