Is it my imagination or are RAM trucks getting uglier and uglier? Sure are getting expensive, 65 grand for a coil sprung 1/2 ton short bed grocery getter... Not for me.
Go price a loaded Ford or Chevy, and let me know how ugly the Ford is compared to the Ram. And I do believe the 1500 can do more than just pick up groceries!
Said before, 65 grand is more than I paid for my farm and my farm makes money. Real estate appreciates. Vehicles depreciate.
I'm not in the market to buy a new vehicle and if I did (which I did last year), I'd buy a low mileage off lease with a factory warranty.
Step right up, keeps the economy rolling but in my case, ain't gonna happen.
Finally, they are still ugly. - KavoomExplorerFYI
In a unique turn of events, Ram is going to continue what is in effect the 1918 version of trucks into the future and so, they essentially have two lines of trucks for awhile. They are calling this line "classic" to differentiate it from the new lines.
There are limited versions of it most seemingly aligned with commercial use, but you can get most of what you want apparently.
So, you do NOT necessarily need to "move up" if you are happy with what you got. And they are correspondingly less expensive I am hearing.
I have never seen this approach before by an auto manufacturer. So, for all of those who say I will not buy the new ones because I do not like (fill in the blank). You don't have to. - KavoomExplorer

If I had the urge to slap down that much coin, I have a legit quote here on an F350 SRW Lariat CC longbed for $64K. Granted not a King Ranch, big deal. I know where I would waste that much money if I had the urge. I could haul a lot more groceries. The interior layout of that thing is a cluttered up abortion IMO and I have scratched the remaining hair from my noggin watching that video 4 times. Watching it in regards to the gimmick attached to the serpentine belt. What in the hell is that thing LOL.
If you can afford to outlay $65K on half of a truck, is getting 1 to 2 additional mpg.....maybe....for a $2K up front cost, really that important? You have to be stupid or the biggest cheapskate in North America to think thats worth it.
In the race to make trucks ever more burly, they are approaching caricature. How many layers of squares can a GM product have on the front. Seems like RAM whether you like it or not (not sold yet) is moving back toward more sleek even though they created the "burly" look. - dodge_guyExplorer II

I agree with you, but you have to remember who they are marketing it too. people that want a truck to look cool but will never use it as a truck.
And what is attached to the belt is an electric motor that assists the engine in accelerating to give better mileage. it also starts the motor. - KavoomExplorer

Here's a review of a Ram 1500 Longhorn with the eTorq system.

BTW... I'm not feeling the pumkin color interior of the new Longhorn.
Lots O bells and whistles on that truck. 2K. Someone do the math for ROI on two miles per gallon increase in MPG. Over on Ramforumz, everyone who has driven one says you cannot even feel it when driving.
I'd still buy one although not in those colors or trim if I could afford it. I have a 2015 Outdoorsman 5.7 and am very happy with it. - Ralph_CramdenExplorer II

The interior is impressive. From the video, the design and quality look solid. The gadgets are flat out amazing. Significant improvement over my wife's already swanky '17 Laramie Longhorn.
That said.. if I were buying to drive it for 200k miles, I'd pick something with fewer gadgets. Those things are going to be expensive to fix when they go south, and with vehicles exposed to hot/cold extremes, it's gonna happen. Seems like something you drive for 60k miles, and then trade it in. - ScottGNomadI dont see anything remotely resembling orange there Fish.
It's very tan and brown - natural shades of leather.
I think it looks rather rich but the new 13" display and the pod around it are not good. They need to integrate the vents and display into the dash and not make it look like it's just sitting on it. GBuilders wrote:
Wow I like it. I have been in my buddy’s new F150 King Ranch and by the video I like the Ram better. When are the new designs coming for the HD Rams?
New Ram HD's are coming out next year as a 2020 model.
