Have been doing some research on new Chevy 2500HD gas trucks and have noticed the rear end ratio seems be 3.73 now, not 4.10, in most dealer inventory. I think I would still like the 4.10 unless there...

You have to take trans ratios into account when looking at rear end ratios.
A 6L90 with 3.42 is equivalent of a 4L85 with 5.54 diff ratio. 4.02 1st gear vs 2.482.
To call a 2008 6.0L gasser (4L85) with 5.54 ratio "worthless" is a bit of an exaggeration...
