2020 chevy equinox LT

does anyone have one and tow it 4-down does it to do good i am thinking of buying one. thanks in advance
  • If you search "Chevy Equinox", you will find lots of information that is helpful. You might check with "Executive" I see he is towing a 2014 Equinox. Happy travels Arnold
  • I bought mine new in 2014 and found it to be an excellent all around toad. That said, every toad has it's faults. Best toad I've had was the Chev HHR which is no longer made. The only difference though was the HHR had more interior room due to it's layout. The Equinox has been a trouble free vehicle with over 41,000 miles on the odometer and around 60,000 towed miles. We have the LTZ 4cyl model and I would get the 6cyl next time around because of the steering. The 4 has electronic steering and the 6 hydraulic. The 4 suffers from the 'death wobble' while the 6 does not. It's been solved with pulling a different fuse but you must add a charging module. ($49) so no biggie. For 2020 I believe they made some minor changes so you should look at the owner's manual to see what needs to be done to tow it four down. The body is the same. You might also look at the Blazer which looks great from the outside. I haven't spent any time at a dealer recently so I can't give you any info on them. I'd recommend the Equinox based on my success with it. Hook it up, put it in neutral, flip the switch and go....Dennis

  • Have you confirmed with Chevrolet (not a dealer salesman) that the 2020 Equinox model you are viewing is four down towable?
  • Here is the 2020 Equinox Owner's Manual.

Page 346 tells you that all models can be towed 4-down, but Chevy advises starting and running the vehicle for 5 mins at each fuel stop and at the end of the day to ensure proper drivetrain lubrication.

    Wasn't that easy?
  • "Wasn't that easy?" Looking at the 2020 Chevrolet Trailering Guide, Burb, it isn't that easy.

See page 26...it says "yes" to the 2WD and "NO" to the all wheel drive. OP doesn't say if he is considering 2 or all wheel drive. Essential information to a response.

I have a GMC Acadia I flat tow, and the instructions are the same. No issues here.

  • thanks for the replys i did google the info before i posted but i wanted personal experience. thanks dennis for all the info
  • I have the 2018 Diesel Equinox. I tow it 4 down and it does fine EXCEPT you will need a charging line to the battery. The battery will run down otherwise and it is a real pain. The standard engine and transmission can also be towed 4 down. However the 2018 9 speed transmission was not approved for towing.
  • should be moved to the Dinghy Towing section, since this section is for vehicles that tow.
