The 8 speed ZF in my Grand Cherokee is far and away the best automatic I’ve driven. I’d love to see one in RAM.
I’m sure there is a point of dimensioning returns on more gears in a vehicle. Not sure if that is 8 speeds or 10 or more. But I would be shocked if 8 wasn’t better than 6. And I’m sure that 10 is better than 6. My 68RFE could use one more gear above 6 and probably one either between 3-4 or 4-5.
GM has this right in theory. We will see how it plays out in real life.
