Now we have 100 more hp, and 80 lb-ft more torque, in a 1/2 ton diesel, coupled with a MUCH better transmission.
The nice thing about the old ones though is you can turn them up quite significantly and even more so with a pump swap. Also the cooling systems were designed to run at full load. Factory transmissions did leave something to be desired though and were the weak link in stock form.
