2020 Powerstroke upgrades

Those are very impressive specs. Historically speaking, Ford has always put out big numbers but those numbers haven't translated into dominating on the road. Maybe that will change with 2020. There is no excuse to not embarrass Ram and GM.

F stock has done nothing but go down for 5 years. It's hard to believe a major car company trades at under $10.

New fuel system too, I guess Ford was tired of the issues with the Bosch CP4 as well.... As far as I am concerned, the engines in all three trucks are pretty much bullet proof, it's the fuel systems we all should be worried about.

HP is a nice advertising metric. However, the better indicator of what a vehicle is capable of is a graph of the area under the torque curve in the rpm range used in the vehicle.

A good indicator is the spread between peak torque rpm and peak hp rpm. The bigger the rpm difference, often the more responsive the vehicle is.

Lower peak horsepower but more area under the useable torque curve very often yields better performance.

And the more torque at low rpm off idle the more responsive a vehicle may seem.

Has anyone seen anything new (since Feb) on the Godzilla engines?

The "new" fuel system can still have a CP4, but with the new version that puts out 2,700 bar(39k psi). You can inject a lot of fuel in a short amount of time with that much pressure, but it may come at a sacrifice of fuel system longevity and reliability. Are increased power numbers worth that? I guess that depends on who you ask.


I know one thing, Ford should upgrade their fuel filtration with 36k psi. Even something as small as 5 micron can wreak havoc on fuel system components at that pressure, and Fords 10 micron filters won't cut it.

Will be interesting to see how they all do hooking to a 30k load.

Recent Dyno run with a stock 19 Cummins with advertised HP of 400 hit 392 on the rollers. I believe the Cummins filtration is 4 microns.

Am I seeing things or are those pistons flat as a pancake? What would keep them from wobbling and getting stuck in the cylinder?

You do realize dollar share price is not the value of a company.
