I came from a 17 F350 dual to what you see now. The driving experience is a quite a bit different. First, the seat of pants feel of the torque is very noticeable. Throttle response is quite a bit better. Not a fair comparison with the dually but I'm getting 20 plus mpg highway and 15 to 16 in town driving vs 15 or so highway and 13 in town for the 17. The 10 speed is very smooth. It's almost like driving the wife's Subaru Ascent with the continuously variable transmission.
The steering is the biggest improvement. It is very solid and has the right feel for whatever speed. I had bump steer in the 17 from day one and finally changed the steering damper to a new Fox and it went away. It still tended to drift at highway speeds but wasn't something that bothered me too much. I intentionally drove over some rough roads when I got the 20 and not a hint of bump steer and there is no drifting at highway speeds. The ride is much improved also. I'm not sure what Ford did but it feels more forgiving with the bumps. It could be I'm comparing a single rear wheel to a dually but I do like it.
