I am not a fan of a particular vehicle brand. I would own a GM, Ford or Ram in the certain models and configuration I feel that they are best at. Heck, I even have four different vehicle brands in my driveway as we speak. I believe Ford has the best HD transmission and HD gaser engine, GMC has the best looking HD with the AT4, and Ram has the best overall HD diesel option and interior looks for my preferences (although their diesel transmissions are ****).
They all have their own pluses and minuses in my view. I would drive certain vehicles from any of them like the F150 Ecoboost if I were to getting a half ton or the Colorado ZR2 diesel if I were getting a midsized truck. I don't only tout the pluses of one brand while only pointing out the negatives of the other. Now I will debate facts and figures or what I know based on my experiences with HD trucks and engines, but that should not be construed as being a fanboy for a certain brand.
OK... the no fan boy response:
Ford does not have the best transmission: the 10 speed is too new to make that determination and there has been some reported problems with them already
Ford does not have the best HD gas: the 7.3 is too new to make that determination
GMC best looking: subjective
Ram does not have the best HD diesel offering: The introduction of the CP4.2 pump, oil consumption, and hydraulic lifters tapping, reduction in fuel economy does not inspire best
And that is fine based on your preferences. As you will note, I said "for my preferences" after stating that they had the best diesel and interior so it is all subjective. I am not sarcastic enough to believe that whatever I think is best for me then it is the best and others should feel that it is best for them as well. If you want to start a "pointed out issues(even false ones) with other diesels that aren't my favorite" debate then I am sure we can both find enough material for each other to throw rocks at each other.
However, purposely going out of my way to point out issues(verified or not) of other peoples trucks in order to make me feel better about my favorite is not my style. I don't like it when Cummins guys do it to PSD/Dmax owners just as much as I don't like it when PSD/Dmax owners do it to Cummins owners. They all have their issues, and only focusing on the negatives(or perceived negatives) of another while neglecting the negatives and only focusing on the positives of your own is pure fanboyism.
Also, I would like to point out that the Powerstroke was also almost two years old when you purchased your truck yet that didn't stop you from determining it was the best..... The "new" Cummins B6.7L has been out since mid 2016 in all non-pickup truck applications and since 2019 in the Rams so it has been on the market for at least three and a half years now. Unlike the 2011 6.7 PSD that was built from the ground up, the B6.7L uses more than 60% of the same parts and is the same design as the ISB6.7L. So it is not the same as a ground up design like the 6.7 was back in 2011 along the Ford 7.3L and 10-speed.
I never said and will never say "my truck is the best" and it's interesting that you group the PSD/Dmax owners from the Cummins owners in your above response. There must be a reason!- ShinerBockExplorer

So I’ve got a 2021 Ford on order at an agreed upon price. I am, however, under no obligation to purchase the truck when it comes in. So if Ram sharpens their pencil a whole bunch they could still earn my business. They would have to offer me a 2021 HO with air for $1000 less than what they quoted on SO no air 2020...... probably not going to happen.

Still has under 50k because it's primarily a trailer tower. 75-80% of that mileage has been towing.
Even if it had 150k I wouldn't be worried about it's reliability. I am high on maintenance to keep my vehicles in tip top shape.
I think if I was looking for a used truck to buy with the idea being that I would keep it for many years I would have a 2013 Ram at the top of my list and I’d probably look at 2015 or newer before I’d consider buying a Ford.
I’m betting someone will have a new RAM when the current Ford is ready to be traded. ShinerBock wrote:

Plus you have a "Holy Grail" G56 manual transmission that they ae not putting in HD's anymore. I wish mine was a manual, but the wife put a kibosh on that. She has to drive my truck sometimes and tow the horse trailer. Or drive me home from the farm when I have had too many Shiner's. At least my JK is a manual.
Which is a shame btw. Ram could have kept that option easily with little capital cost IMO. It pained me to sell our 07 G56 truck. But hard to pass up getting 27 grand for a 14 year old truck with 180k (miles, lol) on it! FWIW, paid $30,800 for it in 2008 with10k miles on it. Not a bad ROI for a depreciating asset.
The downside is I’ll now likely never have another manual trans tow rig, which is soooo nice when towing. Although I always wished it was a G57! - Grit_dogNavigator

Wow man! Super garage queen! At that rate it will still be like new with only 100k (miles) when it’s over 20 years old!
Dude, I’d keep an eye on if Canada clamps down on deletes and if they do, get a delete tuner and at the very least stash it away for a rainy day. But since you’re out of warranty it would actually be money well spent to delete it now.
Good for the engines health and reliability. Plus it would be free, takeoff emissions parts fetch good money, here at least. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

HUH???
I think he mis spelled it. He meant Cummings! Lol
I've just been stirring the pot a bit but I did take a rather interesting survey of sorts this morning. I went on a searchable classified ads website (Kijiji) and searched "new engine" under cars and trucks for Alberta. Then I hit the filter and selected diesel and got results. I further filtered the results by screening for 2010 - 2016 and got zero. So I did a new search to include '04 through '09. Here's what I got:
6 Fords with new engines installed at between 166,000 km and 215,000 km, There were a couple additional Fords advertising recent engine work.
The surprising thing was there were 5 Rams came up with new engines. Engines were replaced at between 130,000 km and 373,000 km with the others around 300,000 km
There were only 2 Duramax equipped trucks that came up.
One engine was replaced at 160,000 km and 265,000 on the other.
Probably less Duramax equipped trucks are sold is some of it but I was amazed reading through these ads at the amount of mechanical work that gets put into these trucks when they get some years on them. I think I'll continue to keep my truck new.
I'm not too worried; I'll keep gambling with my 2013. :C
