According to FCA, they did not change the pump from a CP4 to a CP3. They did, however, change the from an asymmetrical to a symmetrical cam design. A CP3 would not look identical to a CP4.

Drivingline article on 2021 Cummins
TFL says 400 horsepower, Drivingline says 420 and Ram says 430. They all say 1075 lbft of torque but no one says at what rpm max torque is produced. Then on the Ford side some Ford publications say peak HP is obtained at 2600 rpm whereas other Ford publications say 2800. the same goes for peak torque ... is it 1600 or 1800? If these numbers are so important you'd think they would get there ducks in a row before publishing them. They used to publish torque curves. At least if they gave us rpm along with peak torque and power values we could speculate what the torque curve looks like. - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIShiner, this is a pic off the TDR that the guy took today off a 2500 2021 model. What say you now?
- spoon059Explorer III was under the impression that the issues Ford was having with the CP4 was due to less than ideal filtration. Not knocking Ford, but the Ram filtration setup seems much more robust. Have their been any widespread issues with Ram using the newer CP4 pump?

A quote for Bob4x4 on TDR "Revisiting this discussion, the FCA training centers 6.7 update class says Cp3 will be back on the 2021 models. The guys doing PDI’s say it’s true" - 4x4ordExplorer IIIAccording to Ram’s website the 2021 Cummins high output will have 430 HP. That is getting very close to being enough to keep up with the Powerstroke.

Fake news. That is an aftermarket CP3 installed to make it look like it was factory. The line with all the paint would not be that type of fitting. The factory uses quick disconnect safety lock style fittings, not a flair style fittings. Although I will give them extra credit for the quality control style paint on the fitting.
Man, people just believe anything they see on the internet these days without verifying it first.
Just like that and hope is gone.
Sorry, but there is no way a factory would use that type of fitting. It would cost them lots of time and money to have someone keep spinning a wrench to install that line on every truck versus a quick disconnect fitting that takes a second or two to install. - 4x4ordExplorer III

Does the CP3 change up kit that is offered alter the CP3 to get the pressure up to 29000 psi? Because I think the kit can be installed without adding a tuner.
Then the question might become at 29000 psi will the CP# still be reliable?
