- ShinerBockExplorerFake news. That is an aftermarket CP3 installed to make it look like it was factory. The line with all the paint would not be that type of fitting. The factory uses quick disconnect safety lock style fittings, not a flair style fittings. Although I will give them extra credit for the quality control style paint on the fitting.
Man, people just believe anything they see on the internet these days without verifying it first. - 4x4ordExplorer III

Ram back to CP3 injection pump for 2021
Good news. I think if I was a Ram guy I would rush out and get a 2021 Ram while the getting is good. Is there any chance the High Output still has the CP4.2?
I also wonder if Bosch has upgraded the CP3 to make the 29000psi that the Cummins was asking for? Or has Cummins met emission standards with a lower pressure pump? - Grit_dogNavigator^Lol!

Helped my old man install new injectors and sleeves on his 2003 7.3L today. And by help I mean I did 95% of the work. Man, the stuff I had to remove just to get to the valve covers. There was hardly any room on either side of the engine and the back two injectors were a pain in the arse getting the sleeves out. I can see why taking the cab off is standard practice on major repairs.
To be fair though, the back two injectors on the Cummins is a pain as well, however, I don't have to take a bunch of stuff off just to get the valve covers. It would suck if we messed up and had to take all that stuff back off again since we have to put it all back on just to turn it over to verify the job was done correctly. Luckily we(I) got his 7.3l back on the road without a hitch.
And the old trusty 7.3L is easy compared to the 6.7L Powerstroke. When we got the first 6.7L at my work a few years ago I remember looking under the hood with some of our mechanics and we all mentioned how ridiculous it was. - Me_AgainExplorer III

I prefill mine and install it from the top with no problems.
OMG!!!
Three RAM trucks(1993, 2001.5 and the 2015) all have had filters changed from the top and new filter pre-filled. Not a drop spilled both removing the used filter and installing the new one. Got the change the oil and filter again in the next couple weeks. Intake hose from air box to turbo removed on all three. - Cummins12V98Explorer III" I should be able to get the new one back in without spilling."
Getting it "back in" is not the hard part!!! Do so then remove the cap, now try to lift it one handed and screw it on without spilling a drop.
Let me know how it goes. - CaLBaRExplorer

Next time PLEASE attempt to unscrew the cap once the filter is dropped thru the hole. Then try to lift the filter into place and screw it on without spilling.
I am saying put one quart into the filter.
Report back.
The from the top method is free, simple and not a drop will be spilled.
You may be correct but I am thinking if I can get the full filter out with the plug without spilling then I should be able to get the new one back in without spilling. I will need to give it a try and see if I make a mess. - ShinerBockExplorer

He doesn't mind it. He actually called his dad that. Althouh I far exceeded him at the gym many years ago. He can barely put up 225lbs on the bench these days. - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIIf I called my Dad "OLD MAN" I probably would not be able to type this.
