It looks pretty sweet. Although I like the Trailboss and new 1/2 ton ZR2 looks. But beauty is in the eyes of the beer-holder….

The Bison option for the ZR2 has factory installed aftermarket front and rear bumpers as well.

Also wish GM would ditch those jounce bumpers that acts like a spring.

^You both are talking about a coating system that performs differently in different environments. I can’t say what’s better definitively but Chebbies don’t rust out any faster than other trucks. And that is the reason in the first place, right?
Fish, I’m guessing you don’t have extensive time with vehicles from the rust belt. And vice versa for someone else.
Heck even my 2016 with very little road salt exposure (comparatively) and a half dozen typical rainy seasons, the e coat is coming off in chunks or sheets or long gone on parts that are more exposed. But that’s prolly because it’s not a Ford…lol!
By the same token, I like “clean” and the wax coating is the opposite of that. But for some of those up north, it’s a way of life to make the undercarriage gross and dirty (winter oil coatings).
But I got a 22 year old Chebby and a 24 year old Dodge sitting in the driveway and neither of them are even beginning to rust out, anywhere. And a 17 year old Ford…also not rusting out.
Neither coatings are permanent…and neither are perfect.
Now galvanized! That would be GREAT! Hot dip the whole mfer before putting the body on top!

Bottom line is, if you drive in Texas, you could leave the entire truck bare steel and it might last longer than one from Minnesoooota. And if you don’t take any care in Minne you could have a vehicle with rust holes in it before the last loan payment!

Oh and never trust e coat as an actual substrate for any other coatings.

Why? So it can peel off in sheets such as it does after 2 winter seasons on Ford trucks here in road salt/brine country? I assume a Fanboy forum sheet starter knocking GM, who doesn't own one and probably never has or never would own one regardless, even if they coated their frames with molten zinc.

This is why!

Owned a '87 Chevy, '92 Chevy, '98 Ford, '05 Ford, '12 Ford for personal use. The '92, '98, and '05 had hot wax dipped frames and I hated them because dirt/mud would stick to them and eventually the wax would wear off.

Here's two pictures taken the same day of two trucks ~same age with one being my Ford E coated and neighbors Chevy hot wax coated. Pretty obvious which coating is more durable.

I have my name on a HD ZR2 months ago. I am waiting to see what the specs are before I decide if I want it. Seems whenever they ZR2 a pickup the tow ratings are way low. So I am interested to see what it can do pulling a trailer.

Here's a '23 and '24 comparison. The '24 is a huge improvement.

Better. I just can’t bring myself to like the front end of the current Chevy 2500/3500 trucks.
