Well, how'd the walk thru and pick up go yesterday?
I am scheduled to pick up our 28bhs on April 26th. Should be rolling off the line the 2nd week of April.
We picked it up yesterday afternoon (Keystone Hideout 280LHS). It was a 2 hour appointment, but we were actually out of there in about an hour and a half. When we arrived they already had the trailer setup in their garage for us to inspect and to give us our buyers walk through. The mechanic seemed friendly and knowledgeable, and he explained all the appliances, slide out and power awning dos and don'ts, general maintenance and care, how to winterize it, etc. Over all the trailer appeared in good order except for some minor things like missing end caps for the rear bumper (which they replaced from their parts stock), and a wiring harness from the trailer brakes that was hanging down a bit by one wheel (pull strap was missing, but they took care of that too). After the inspection we spent about 20 minutes with paperwork, warranty explanation, and service scheduling procedures at their shop. By the time we were done with that, they already had the WDH assembled and my truck backed up to the camper. They then went over how the hitch and anti-sway system worked and hooked it up for us.
The drive home was about an hour in fairly windy conditions, half of it back roads, and half highway. Overall the F150 EB pulled it just fine but I could definitely feel the extra weight back there compared to our last trailer which was about 4800lb (The new one is 6570lb dry). However even with the wind it never felt harry and I kept it under 65 on the freeway. I adjusted the brake controller gain in the parking lot before we left, and had it set to 4 (may have been a bit too high). I simulated a panic stop when I got close to my house, and I had no problem stopping the rig. However pulling it in my driveway, I already experienced my first "dumb ****" moment and bumped the rim on our basketball hoop and almost knocked it over.. (My old trailer fit under it no problem lol) Luckily there was no damage.
So overall I was impressed with Moore's and it seemed they went out of their way to throw in the little extras like 30-15 amp adapter, winterizing kit, extra cotter pins for hitch, etc. When I got the trailer home I did notice some minor factory defects such as a scratch here and there, but overall the condition was good. We have first trip scheduled to Mammoth cave next week which is about a 6 hour drive for us. I'll report back on how the trailer and truck performs. Very excited!
