The top plan is how the trailer currently exists, so no problems with the waste tanks. The black water tank is right under the toilet and the grey water is just forward of the black. With the new layout both tanks get moved back, so there will be no issue with the axles.
I do agree that the trailer is in pretty good shape as is and it works OK for us, but it's not ideal and it does get a little cramped with four of us.
The wife and daughters are as much a part of the design process as I am. We've discussed the merits of a lot of different design ideas and have settled on this as being one that would work well for us now and in the future when it's mostly just my wife and I. There are still likely to be a lot of refinements before this project ever gets under way.
We actually just went to a huge RV show in Hershey, PA this past weekend and got to see first hand a lot of the design features we want to incorporate and little features we would like to add. The wife and daughters especially love the vanity being outside of the bathroom.
