So after all the busyness of the last few months I'm finally able to put some more time into the planning of this trailer renovation. Since I'm doing a frame up renovation/rebuild I have to think through and plan as much of the rebuild as possible before beginning any work. I'll be wanting to get this project done as quickly as possible, so that means a lot of planning ahead of time. My main initial focus will be the shell. Framing the walls is pretty simple and straight forward for me (lots of construction experience). The big issue I'm wrestling with right now is deciding on the skin/siding. I like the look of Filon, but it is just so dang expensive. Aluminum siding is cheaper but getting it shipped is costly. So I was thinking how about a combination of the two...an aluminum skin.
Does anyone out there have experience cladding an RV with aluminum skin? I know a lot of DIY teardrop TT's use aluminum skin, so I know it is doable. What I'd like is anyone that can offer or point to experiences with cladding with aluminum. I'm mostly interested in what to watch out for and what mistakes are common and can be avoided.
