Ya, you’re right. Maybe the 68rfe is the best trans offered for the last 15 years. LOL - The main issue with the Chevy is it didn't downshift until a brake application and then the rpms went up to ~2,500 rpm's like the Ram and it held the speed thereafter.
- LwiddisExplorer IIRAM sure seemed to win except for payload…2234 vs. over 3000…but hard to pull 20000 pounds with RAM’s small payload.
- larry_barnhartExplorerit looked like the chev wasn't on tow mode from how they figured where it was located. Might not be different but it is on our 05??? Fun to watch. chevman
- My take is with this small camper the 6 speed/Cummins combo was a good fit. Go to 30k lbs and I believe you'll see a different outcome or different varying size slopes/hills.
