I think it depends on how much and where you tow. At elevation with a very heavy load diesel. If you are a casual weekender and your load is middle of the road gas.

I highly doubt that. I can't get that low towing my TT at 70mph. single digits is hard in the winter in 4WD lock too. Non towing I get 18mpg at 70mph. While he may have never reset it on purpose, someone else may have. Or he idled a lot, like 4 hours per day.

2013 2500HD LT,short box,crew, 4wd, 6.0. 2800lb payload.

2013 2500HD, long bed, regular cab, 2wd, 6.0, 36 gallon tank. 3,496 pounds payload from yellow sticker. 8 mpg towing, almost twice that when not.

I get 8.5 to almost 10 when towing depending on terrain pulling 11k pound 5th. You have a late model truck with electronic ignition; I have found a nearly 10% improvement with 89 octane when towing, but no improvement when not under load.

One more idea: I carry a 5 gal tank in the back so I don't sweat the gas gage so much. I've never needed it, but that extra 45 miles of range helps me relax. Dd the same when I had a diesel.

2997 lbs with mine, crew cab and all the extras add up....

A little over 3k payload on mine.

Kind of a sidebar question...what payload do you 2500 6.0 guys have in your trucks?
