I personally would worry more about my liability. This year Janet and I have seen several trucks with what appears to be tie rods broken along the sides of the high ways... in any casea front wheel is broken, folded under the engine or even stranger with the top of the wheel facing the engine and the bottom splayed out.
None of the ones we have seen were carring a load (no TC's) or towing anything.
My concern... these were all newer light duty 1/2 ton trucks.
I am sure that some of you have seen this too.
Liability? Yes, my fear is that if I had one of these obviously weak trucks overloaded to break and crash... hurting or killing someone along the road or in another vehicle that I'd be held responsible
We were hit in Mississippi in 2006, the guy had Progressive.... insured for 10,000... he did $55,000 in damages... it took our insurance company 2 years to collect the $10,000... our insurance went after the guy... the guy owned a cell phone and a pack of cigeretets. Uninsurced policy that I paid for had to pick up the rest.
I don't want to drive something that has a weak point... I don't want to insure something that isn't what the insurance company thinks I have... doesn't fit my insurance policy because I varied from the vehicles stated limits.
