Watched the whole thing. RAM better mileage, pulled a tad bit faster, ZERO rear suspension sag, a bit quieter, lets not forget 3K less in price.
Oh yea Ford has massaging seats and better mirrors!
They should have had the trans/engine temps showing along with what gear they were in at all times. In those conditions my AISIN trans temp would have been about 170 and possibly less.
If they descended in 3rd gear the brake applications would have been much less! Real world that's NOT how to drive these things. I descended 14% for several miles with 33K combined in 3rd with cruise set at 30 and it stayed around 35-38 with no brake applications.
Pretty funny with so MUCH more HP the Ford did not do any better. This has been the norm as RAM puts down a much higher percentage of advertised HP than Ford. I have personally seen this with my last RAM on the Dyno in LasVegas.
Sure the Ford kicked AZZ on the RAM in a Drag Race. I prefer pulling heavy grades with 33-35K combined time and again with no excessive heat or noise.
What did GM gain by staying under 23K towing??? IMHO they just looked bad. I will bet they come out with an upgraded trans soon and their numbers will be with RAM and Ford.
