It is funny how many of the weight police jump on half ton owners for towing something that weighs less than twice as much as their truck saying the tail will wag the dog even though it is within its ratings, but have no problems with a 3500 towing something that weighs almost three and a half times more than it just because their favorite brand rates it that high.

What is the low hanging linkage under the front diff. Looks to be in harms way!

Tie Rod. Same place they are in all vehicles. Might be a touch lower. But could just be the angle of the picture

The trans will depend on how the truck is speced to be used. In some applications, like for use as a motor home, it is the Allison 1000 HS while some of the others it is the 2000 HS. Only these two transmissions series will be offered. All Allison 1000/2000 series transmissions are externally identical and use the same case.

This is why I say that GM could easily use a 2000 series in place of the 1000 series if the trans is what is holding them back like you say and they really wanted to get into the towing wars.

I do but most of the miles I put on my truck I'm either running empty or towing my 15000 lb rv so my truck is a compromise. For running around empty a f150 would be nice and ideally I would have a dually for the 30,000 lb trailers.

You would be overloading this too, max GCWR is only 30,000 on the GM 4500. It would do it of course, but not without exceeding ratings.
