I have ran both 2WD & 4WD in the snow. I use to run chains on my 2WD, but weather patterns have changed and we seldom have enough snow in my part of Illinois anymore to merit putting chains on— by the next day the County trucks have the roads down to bare pavement, so I think that is a good case for the 4WD, not having to mess with chains for one or two days.
My F350 4WD Dually has Limited Slip so wouldn’t that be 3 wheels driving (when it counts ;)
And, I don’t understand the argument of 2WD/4WD being light over the rear wheels, where I grew up and still today everyone puts weight (firewood, rock, sand, etc.) in the back of their trucks before winter...... don’t they do that out West?:@. Just joking guys- couldn’t resist:)
I haven’t had issues with my dually, but I’m not driving through “feet” of snow like some of you are. Where I wouldn’t want a 2WD Dually is on some of the wet and rutted farm roads we drive during hunting season where I can’t dig down through the muck to the hard pan, then I’m super glad to have the 4WD, but only drive about 3mph- don’t like getting my truck muddy :);)
