It looks like you've got 3.73 now. Are you happy? If so stick with it, especially if you want a heavier trailer.
Are you looking at a Chevy? They don't offer any choices; it's 3.73 and that's it.
If you're looking at another Dodge I'd keep what you have if you're happy.
Ford's, I don't know.
>>>> Yea....we made a "newbie" mistake. In buying our first towing truck WE bought a diesel 4x2 (2 wheel drive) instead of a 4x4.
We were in Mammoth and drove onto some soft dirt off the side of the road and in trying to get out of the shoulder we were "spinning our wheels" and got stuck for a moment (without our trailer in tow).
It was an epiphany. 2 wheel drive is NOT going to "cut it".
Plus we want to visit sites like "The Racetrack" in Death Valley and don't want to get stuck out there (they recommend high profile 4x4 vehicles).
WE........LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our truck and have already added a camper shell, side step, blind spot indicators.....but now know we need to get 4x4 to "boondock" properly.
