Totally agree.
With the load he's pulling, I think 3.42 is plenty.
And with 6 gears to choose from, long/steep grades can be tackled with a simple downshift.
If it was an older truck with a 4-speed tranny, like what I've got, then a shorter rear end would make more sense.
