You can see as good or better mileage pulling a big 5er compared to a smaller/lighter bumper pull simply due to the difference in aerodynamics.
I'll have to disagree with you on that one. A TT can have better aerodynamics than a 5er sticking way up in the sky. It comes down to frontal area. Wind is not your friend unless it's at your back.
No, he's right. A 5th wheel, even though taller, has less drag because of the minimal gap behind the truck. I've pulled equal weight Toy haulers, both the same length (TT was actually 3' longer) and the 5th wheel has WAY less drag going down the highway.
