having towed from 2011-2013 with an F150 with the max towing pacakage/3.5 EB I have some experience here, I went from a 29.5ft 7700GVWR TT to a 33ft 11200GVWR TT and did two trips with it - the truck had more than enough power to get the job done but the suspension was way too soft to get the job done and it was a tail wagging the dog situation. a month after upgrading the TT we upgraded to a 2013 F250 at the time and happily towed for three more summers with that setup.
Go with the 3/4 or 1 ton right off the bat and save yourself the cost of having to do it down the road or living with a very poorly performing TV/TT combo.
You've been warned by someone who's been there that done exactly the same scenario and had to pay to fix it.
Also consider a Hensley or Propride hitch for a tow behind that long, I had a Propride for mine and it really took all of the white knuckle out of windy days.

You probably don't mind driving around in a 250 when not towing, but I wouldn't, therefore I would have upgraded my shocks, truck tires, and stiffer trailer tires, even upgrading my hitch in order to keep my truck.
When my 1/2 ton truck arrives I can't imagine driving it very much at all when not towing, but a larger 2/3 or larger truck would definitely stay parked next to to trailer when not towing.
