I drive a 1-ton dually.... would I recommend an F150 has a primary tow vehicle? Nope.
Would I recommend a 1-ton or even 3/4-ton as a daily driver? Nope.
Would I try towing a 37' trailer with a regular payload F150? No Way.
If an F150 can be found with the Heavy Duty Payload package, it should be a good candidate for a full time daily driver, part-time tow vehicle. It will have the tow rating and payload to handle it. Newer F150 brakes are larger that the SuperDuty brakes up until 2005, and don't have to stop as much. A SuperCab 8' bed F150 has a 164" wheelbase, which is right up there with the SuperDuties. And it comes with proper LT rated tires, with the HDPP.
