3" receiver on new 2017 SD = stinger is easy now?

Anybody tried it yet? I just found that my new truck has 3" receiver with 20k rating.
I think I can buy 3" tubing and make good stinger very cheap.
  • I was thinking the same thing . Not much is made to fit a 3" I'D receiver .
  • Are you sure that the new hitch is 3" ID? Although it may be 3", all Super Duty and other HD Truck manufacturers have 2 1/2" ID hitches standard for which there are ample extensions available. Mine is 3" OD but 2 1/2" ID which is the dimension that counts! The stinger or extension is great since the outboard end is the same size as standard 2" hitches so all standard 2" plugs fit fine. Perhaps Ford changed in 2017 along with the new body style to 3" ID? If that is the case it may take a few months for the aftermarket folks to catch up!
  • Do they have 3" ?
All I can find is 2" hitches
I can't find any manufacturer making 3" extensions, but again, being a welder I don't see big issue to make one.
  • Did it on my 2015 chev 2500 ,with a 24" hitch reciever (from Princess Auto ,in canada). just needed to drill a hole for pin. Outer end already had a hole and reinforced end. And already painted.
