30 amp generator?

Check the plug ins on it to see if your RV will plug into it or if you need to get an adapter. It will work as long as you want to put up with the noise.

If noise is not a factor and money is, then the Champion 3500/4000 watt generators are a great choice. 3500/120 = 29.2 amps. They are equipped with a RV 30 amp receptacle. For less than $300

(The noise will not be from the generator but from the sound police.)

Just kidding, but if you intend to run the generator in close proximity to others, like within 100', your neighbors might complain.

I have the Champion generator. Runs my trailer just fine.

If you're planning on using your generator in California, you may want to research your generator choices, to see which ones are California compliant. My memory isn't what it used to be, but, I seem to recall, my Champion came with a notice that said it was not compliant with California codes.

We have the Champion 3100 inverter generator with remote start making it nearly as easy to use as our onboard Onan generator, it readily starts our rig's AC unit and does so on eco-mode and at high elevations. They have a newer version that has a few hundred more watts, more than enough for your AC unit and then some. We already have a couple hundred hours on our 2nd season of using our Champion and it hasn't missed a beat.

You are welcome in my campsite, half a mile away, to avoid the noise of your generator.

30 amps at 120 volts is 3600 watts.

A 240 volt generator will provide 2 - 120 volt circuits, and a 6500 watt generator will put half that, 3250 watts on each of the 2 circuits. You would need a 7200 watt 240 volt generator to get 30 amps on each leg.

Here is a rather lengthy but informative thread from a different forum. It's has some good information on the Micro-Air EasyStart kit mentioned earlier.

In the questions portion of this link, the twist lock is four wire. It states that you only get one half of the power, other half goes to the 15/20 duplex receptacle.
No it will not do what you want!

Hello, the Q6500 inverter generator is designed primarily for home back-up power utilizing a transfer switch connected through the twist lock outlet. When connecting in this manner, the full capacity of 5000 watts is available (per the PGMA rating standard /ANSI/PGMA G300-2015). However, when using an RV adapter in the twist lock, only 120V (half) is available through that outlet while the remaining 120V is available through the duplex outlets.
