3/4 ton ever day MILLAGE

What kinda MPG will I get with a 3/4 Dodge Vs Ford gasser .
I have been driving Dodge Cummins for twenty years and many hundreds of thousands of miles , but I am getting well past my three score and ten and do not feel the seven thousand dollar extra cost of a Cummins makes much sense as a Cummins will out last me . A regular truck , no fancy rear ends , just a stock truck . What I read about the Hemis is not to good for mpg , what about the Fords ? Four door long bed .

  • Have you checked out the new Dodge V6 diesel? With that light of load it should be no problem. Even the Ford Eco engines should easily pull that load. While the Cummins is awesome, 4k load is not working that engine at all.
  • I get 9 towing my 3600lbs+stuff at 65mph
    I get 15 empty going 65mph
I get 9 empty city only
  • Its a small TT , 4,000 lbs . My question is , which will get better miles Dodge or Ford gas ? I ain't driving as many miles as I have when my wife was younger , she is getting to be a mean ole woman !

The question is what are you towing??

the Ram 6.4 Hemi is getting fairly good reviews here for towing. That said you may not be happy with the gasser if you rig is big.
  • A new diesel will get better MPG than a new gasser, but if the diesel has a couple hundred thousand miles on it, a new gasser might get better MPG. Depending on how big your TT or 5TH-W and how often you take it out you might want to get a diesel, but a gasser's bad mileage will off-set the $8k diesel.
  • I get 17-18 hwy, 14-15 mixed driving, and 8 or so towing a12k# 37' 5er.
