- 4x4ordExplorer IIIMy problem with the 3/4 ton diesel is; why offer it? What advantage does it have over a 1 ton SRW? Ford use to offer a 1 ton srw with a 10k gvwr option. They maybe still do. The option was available at no additional charge and consisted of a different door sticker than the 11500 gvwr 1 ton. I understand there are certain states that charge more for licensing trucks with GVWR over 10k so this option makes sense but why would anyone want a diesel pick up with the overload spring removed?

In my opinion offering a 3/4 ton HD diesel is just plain stupid. By the time you load a small family and a hitch in the bed of a diesel 3/4 ton you haven't got enough payload left to pull more than a tent trailer.
Huh?
I forget, are you the Canadian guy who posts up pulling 20-30k loads of hay and farm equipment around with your F350? Or maybe that's someone else.
Bottom line, you can believe everything you read, or you understand things mechanical and material properties. If you're the latter, you wouldn't say that.
And neither does my old 2500 Dodge that just came back from another 1000miles of camper in the bed and 3 tons on the hitch.

Haven't seen that expression used on this forum before, but is descriptive of many forum threads.
BTW...don't watch the video!

I agree, but think that is the intent based on a few posts. - IdaDExplorerI didn't watch the video but this thread is destined to be quite the circle jerk.
- ShinerBockExplorerThere are many short bed HD configurations that are able to have a camper on that list so the factor has to be something other than the short bed. There are also some long bed HD configurations that are not recommended as well.

RAM has widen the separation between the 2500 and 3500 more that Ford or GM.
Chris
The Ram 2500 payload rating is 1,751 lbs on the long wheel base. The 2500 rear frame section is different to accommodate the coil springs vs the 3500 with a strait frame fail.
Ford's F350 has a larger spring pack and a totally different rear differential vs. the F250
Chevy's 3500 has a larger spring pack vs. the 2500
