3/4 Ton vs 1 Ton

Removing the overload spring from a 1ton single rear wheel heavy duty diesel to market a 3/4 ton for those who don't need that overload spring would be like Chevy Impala removing the back seat of their sedan to market a two seater 4 door for those who don't need a back seat. It is foolishness.

It's this idea of thinking it is reasonable to build a HD diesel SRW truck designed for towing 18000 lbs and then remove some of its leaf springs to reduce its payload to less than that of a 1/2 ton to satisfy a particular segment of buyers that haven't a clue.

That is what Dodge/Ram did from 1994 to 2002 there wasn’t a SRW 3500, only DRW 3500’s.
You could get a 2500 with camper package, and you got 3500 springs, add optional 265/75-16 E tires and you could easily carry 11,000#.

Saw a long box 2500 RAM at Camping World in Burlington, Wa this afternoon. It had new camper tie downs sticking our at the bottom of the four corners of the box. On close inspection it had coils and new air bags added on the rear axle.

For you GVWR cops, you should have been there to give him a ticket when they loaded his new camper!!!



Oh, I mean a 350/3500, and maybe a duallie!!!

Going bigger on the TV. is always a plus.
