- 4x4ordExplorer IIIRemoving the overload spring from a 1ton single rear wheel heavy duty diesel to market a 3/4 ton for those who don't need that overload spring would be like Chevy Impala removing the back seat of their sedan to market a two seater 4 door for those who don't need a back seat. It is foolishness.

I didn't watch the video but this thread is destined to be quite the circle jerk.
Haven't seen that expression used on this forum before, but is descriptive of many forum threads.
BTW...don't watch the video!

Nothing wrong with it as long as you're not the pivot man. - CampingN_C_Explorer

Just speaking on ride quality alone, my new dually rides better than my 15 2500 with coils did.
And for the weight po-po...I towed a 42ft toyhauler just fine with a 3000lb pin weight on a 2500.
Sure you did, however you were most likely over the 6500 RGAWR of the 2500.
6400lbs. Very close but not over. - Me_AgainExplorer III

That is what Dodge/Ram did from 1994 to 2002 there wasn’t a SRW 3500, only DRW 3500’s.
You could get a 2500 with camper package, and you got 3500 springs, add optional 265/75-16 E tires and you could easily carry 11,000#.

It would make sense to have 2500 and 3500 series trucks but the 3500 should have duals and the 2500 should be SRW.
It's this idea of thinking it is reasonable to build a HD diesel SRW truck designed for towing 18000 lbs and then remove some of its leaf springs to reduce its payload to less than that of a 1/2 ton to satisfy a particular segment of buyers that haven't a clue.

It had new camper tie downs sticking our at the bottom of the four corners of the box. On close inspection it had coils and new air bags added on the rear axle.
For you GVWR cops, you should have been there to give him a ticket when they loaded his new camper!!!
Oh, I mean a 350/3500, and maybe a duallie!!! - Pop-Pop_CExplorerGoing bigger on the TV. is always a plus.
