You have missed the entire point of this thread. First this is NOT about saving time and second it does not "run the bejesus out of their tow vehicle" to put your foot down and accelerate to 4,000 to 5,000 rpm to safely climb that grade. That is what they are designed and built to do. :S
I always cringe when I see some fool lugging up a grade at 35 with his flashers on. If he would have bought enough truck/RV (or not overloaded the one he has), in the first place or would simply put his foot into the one he owns the problem (him), would disappear in a blaze of safer driving. Yes it burns more fuel but opting to save a couple of bucks at the expense of everyone else's safety is simply not an option. :R
