Hey Bryan Appleby, could you get by without a 4x4?
Easy answer; Wo.ody ~
No.
But you are right to understand many have a wealth of uses for their trucks and campers. Many write about doing the Jefe4X4, Whazoo, or the Seldomseensmith Polka, the majority don't. The majority use their campers for campgrounds and just plain; "at the lake . . . "
One of the most common uses I use my 4X4 for? Simply climbing the front wheels up onto my 6X8 inch ramps, and oftentimes more. Some of the Forum members have seen me do just this. Many of us don't judge where we park, roam, watch sunsets or by the topography or the level of the final stopping location for the night. I just pull out the appropriate blocks, 4X4 up on top of them, and call it a night. One note, I have had to cable off to keep my rig from shifting off the ramps sometimes, but that it just the extreme of the locations I get my Large Hardside camper into.
Have fun, but be kind and safe to you and the environment you travel through.
