Hardly, look at all the people driving Hummers and 4WD SUV's to safely get to the grocery store.
The only big trucks I see with 2WD are the ones pulling horse trailers where the tongue weight gives the DRW tires more than enough traction. Nothing worse than a 2WD pickup with no weight in the bed. My front wheel drive Prius gets me places I could not get to with any 2WD pickup.
Makes for a nice combination having the 4WD 3/4 ton pickup for heavy hauling and getting 13 MPG and the Prius for almost everything else and getting 45 MPG. Prius is actually not a bad hauler - I used it to pickup 30 cases of wine and bring it 130 miles back to my house and cellar.
