Well, I have a 2 wd truck. Have no need for 4wd as I do not take it into areas where I might get stuck. Do have a come a long I can carry to get me out if necessary.
I have always been told 4wd just lets you get further into the woods before getting stuck.
With my lance, I have lots of weight on the rear and have never had a problem with traction. With prior 2wd truck, I went north where there was snow and ice on ground. Saw a lot of awd vehicles and I just drove by them.. Had 600# of weight over the rear axle and never had a problem.
4wd would be nice to go play with. Our lifestyle and type of camping does not make it a requiement.
