5th wheel electrical receiver, Northern Lite plug?

Good morning friends, I have a 5th wheel receptical in my truck bed (2016 Chev 3500) and just bought a 04' Northern Lite TC. I don't want to drill another hole in the truck bed. Do I need just a 7pin extension, an adapter, or a specific Northern Lite item? My TC did not come with a cord for the truck bed. Thanks (I couldn't find a clear answer in my searches)
  • Look at the receptacle on the camper. If it looks like a standard 7 pin, just go to a RV shop and buy a cord that has 7 pin female on both ends. Decide if you want to use the plug that you already have in the bed, or if you want to plug into the 7 pin on the bumper near the license plate. I prefer the one near the license plate, but that's just me. My Dodge Ram has a regular 7 pin.
What part of Texas you in?
  • some campers like my last one have the same 7-pin receptacle as the truck, i couldn't find a cable locally with the trailer end on both ends of the cable so I made one.
  • Thank you both. No, I bought the TC from a 2nd owner who had a Dodge truck and said his truck had a different stock plug in and he didn't have a cord. On the TC there is only a receptacle, no cord. The only cord is the 30amp but I need a cord for the truck bed to run my brake and running lights.
  • Your camper didn't come with a cord? Doesn't the camper have a short pigtail with a 7 pin hanging off somewhere?
If your camper has a standard 7 pin connection then an appropriate length extension cable is all you need.
