- travelnutzExplorer IIMy 5th wheel hitch rails in my diesel full size truck are 42" long and they are for 22,000 lb hitch. Regardless, rails can be cut off the fit as they only need to go from one truck frame member across to the other frame member because that's what they are bolted to. New mounting holes can be easily drilled thru the rails as needed to line up with the holes in the "L" frame brackets or other brackets. So, no big deal putting a 5th wheel hitch in a Colorado or Canyon! Besides, some of the smaller 5th wheels are only 7' to 7-1/2' wide and mirrors to see behind legally would be OK and no different than an 8' wide on the full size truck and then there's the 8-1/2' (102") wide that are sold the towed behind a regular full size pickup too. DUH!

Would it even need anything special? Why not just some regular 5th wheel rails cut down to fit? Those run about $100 new. Then most used hitches would probably fit, and the Anderson Ultimate hitch maybe? The Anderson weighs a lot less than anything else.
I can tell you a sheet of plywood is to wide for the wheel wells :M
I believe hitch rails are 4'. I'm sure you would fab something for mounting brackets to the frame, which is pretty small to begin with. Then you have the narrow platform of the truck with the small mirrors.
Just me but a Canyon isn't the correct tool for even the smallest of fifth wheels. - 1mtnmanExplorer III've seen a lot of RV's over the years but never one with bars on the windows. Sure glad I don't live where that one is stored!
- goducks10ExplorerMake sure you get the 5th wheel prep kit. :)
- bikendanExplorerprobably only something like this:
- nohurryExplorerReally, I think you could tow a conventional TT and have more useful room in your camper, as well was many more choices. So I would recommend that.
- BB_TXNomadWith a max cargo capacity of 1,620 lbs, add two adults and hitch and other items and you are looking at a max pin weight closer to 1,100 - 1,200 lbs.
- blt2skiModeratorIf an Older Dodge Durang?!?! coudl tow a 5w, the new GM twins should be able to. Obviously not a 35-40' quad slide something or other......But something with twin 3500 lb axles, max 1400 lbs of HW of which most of us will not be that heavy......
Assuming one can get a hitch etc, should work.

- romoreExplorer IIThat's right, it's payload and towing capacity limits it to the smallest fifth wheels. The market would be too small for the hitch manufacturers to be interested.
