  • my chevy is a 02 6.0 with 4.10's I haul right at 10k with mine and I just don't keep the pedal to the floor going up hills. we have a fairly good hill here in eastern Oregon and I keep my truck in 3rd gear and around 3K rpm's going up. that is plenty fast enough or me, I even pass the semi's the 6.0 with 4.10's is a brute in my opinion
  • Been running the 6.0 for years, both 2003 w/3:73 and then 2015 w/4:10 ... I like the 4:10 better for hills (or course) but it's got plenty of power, even in the Rockies.

We haul only about 7500 lbs (A truck camper and cargo trailer) but it gives us little trouble ... I'd stay with my 6.0L forever, even if we buy another truck.

All diesels are not alike :B
I just happen to read your sig :W
  • The Ford 6.2L/4.30 combo would be better, but the GM 6.0L/4.10 combo will get the job done.
  • I used to do that with a 235HP tbi 454, and a 185hp 6.5td in GM trucks. I would think a 300+hp 6.0 would do the trick better than these motors. As mentioned, it will need to turn some r's as it takes R's to get the HP vs a diesel....but it will get the job done. I would go with 4.10s in the axels myself. If you do a lot of driving in the 70mph range, then 3.73's. Most of my driving even empty is under 60 mph. 3.73's with a DOD are too tall for "my" kind of driving.

  • I personally do not, but reading on the GM forums there numerous people that do without any problems. Yes the motor will scream up hills, but the 6.0L is strong motor and is built to handle whatever you can throw at it.
