The oil is more expensive but as a full synthetic the change intervals are more like a diesel. I get around 7-9K between changes depending on how much I tow.
Also, the certification thing is why I just take mine to the dealer. As of a year ago I couldn't find the "right" oil locally anywhere. The best I could do was buy it online and have it shipped from a couple hundred miles away.
I'm trying to remember this from a year ago but I think there was some change where one brand had the certification then lost it then another one got it. When I researched it there had been absolutely no change in the oil. Just Ram's blessing on one brand then another. In the end I'm just fine taking it to the dealer. These new trucks are so high tech that there's usually an update for the Uconnect system or some other thing that needs tweaking when it's time for an oil change anyway.
