Not everyone needs or wants a diesel. Many individuals are satisfied with the lower upfront cost and getting the job done with a capable TV that has just enough power for towing - especially when they tow 2-3K/year.
The great thing about the Big 3 is they all provide options for the consumers....in gas or diesel TVs.
Then why do people compare the two all the time? If one doesn't want a diesel in a 3/4 ton or 1 ton diesel then that is fine by me, but why compare the two or talk about cost if you didn't want one in the first place.
That's really a question for the discussion of gas vs diesel in the sticky at the top of this forum. In a nutshell it's human nature to defend the choice you make on a large investment.
