6.4 Hemi Ram 2500 or 6.2L F-250

Ok everyone I am torn after driving them both. I like them both and they are within the same price range but which one do I step up too?!?!?!? :h
I want to be in a 3/4 ton by the time camping season rolls around again looked at both over and over again and just cant decide Ram or F-250. What one should I get and why?!?!

  • I was in the exact same quandary about 9 months ago and went with the Ram. The main reason was the price I was able to find and the reported mileage I could find from actual users (Ram has cylinder deactivation which gave it about 1-2 mpgs better). People can throw around brand loyalty and useless information about where one might have been built, etc, etc. The bottom line is either one will do the largely the same job.

Drive them both and decide with one you like best. Then get the best price for each one and make a decision. I love my Ram but am not going to tell you it's the only truck out there. All of the big 3 are making REALLY nice trucks these days.
  • I agree about considering the 350/3500. Pickuptrucks.com has a detailed comparison test on the 3 gas powered trucks and would be worth the look.

One thing to consider is the transmission in each truck. The tranny in the Ford is the same one behind the Power Stroke and the RAM tranny is perhaps not the same one behind the cummins.

Last but not least, the Ford is "Made in the USA" and the RAM is "Made in Mexico" .

Good luck... Maybe you need your wife to be the referee. :B

No, the trans is not the same as the Cummins uses and there's no reason to want it to. The 6.4 uses a very reliable unit as well.

Ram trucks are also made at the Warren Truck Assembly in Warren, Michigan, United States.

Besides, as long as a quality truck is made in N. America I don't care.
  • Well Fish the wife is a ford truck girl all the way but does love the interior of the new Ram too.
It is just so hard to decide as this truck will be my everyday driver :)

  • I have a 14 f 250 with the 6.2 I tow a 10k tt and I am completely happy with my truck. The 6.2 is a very reliable motor and the 6 speed transmission is also very good.
  • The coil spring suspension on the 6.4l is not matched in the industry. The Ram will pull a trailer better than the competition. The F250 is a 20 year old design....

  • If you want a 3/4 ton go with the Ram or you need to compare it with the F350. I would still take the Ram based on overall drive and power.
  • NEVER a GM again in my life been burned by them two too many times and wifey says if I ever bought one again I'd be single so :/
  • And why not a GM?

Second thing, do yourself a favor and step up to the 350 SRW. Save the future weight police anguish.
