My EVIC has been really close every time I've checked it, at least within a half a MPG. It seems to be low as often as it's high. Certainly for my purposes it's proven to be close enough.
My lifetime average is a little over 16 but that includes towing and most of my daily driving is city. Under 65 on the highway is the sweet spot but in my part of the country I have to deal with a lot of terrain which obviously complicates things compared to most of what's east of the Rockies. Even with the terrain a long highway trip without the trailer and speeds under 65 consistently nets better than 20, but that's not how most of my miles accumulate.
